Our uniform is based on a pūhoro design. Our club colours are red, black and white.
Pūhoro symbolizes strength, courage, and power. It is often described as a split koru pattern, resembling waves or water currents. It represents speed, agility, and the movement of water. Within the context of Ngāti Kahungunu, the pūhoro design reflects the tribe’s strong connection to the coast and ocean.
The pūhoro is also associated with the prow of the waka going through the water.
We have an online system for ordering club shirts.
There are singlets, T-Shirts and long sleeve tops in the club colours, in a light weight material. This is the same material as being used by the NZ waka ama elite teams so that means we will go faster.
There are also off-the-water cotton shirts, hoodies and caps.
Members can order any month, pay online, it’s delivered to their home, and we can make our Uniform Officer redundant, plus reduce the workload for our Treasurer – it’s a win, win!
Our uniforms are printed by Kapinua – a company based in Levin, NZ. They print and sew their own apparel rather than outsourcing to other countries. For more information go here: Production-Process
